Sampling, although a staple to the modern music industry, recently hit a huge roadblock with a recent lawsuit involving Chance the Rapper. As an audio engineer, I've always found it interesting learning about the legalities of sampling and finding the fine line between sampling and stealing.
Recently I was scrolling through my Soundcloud feed and came across a song produced by a friend of mine Mason Spear titled 'Pearl'. This song was really ambient and peaceful and it inspired me to create a song of my own. He gave me clearance to sample the song and I was on my way.
